Spokane Engagement & Wedding Photographer - Starr Images

Excited to share Jamie & Andrew's sweet engagement shoot with you today and a little about the photographer behind the lens: Jenna Starr of Starr Images.  Jenna is a Spokane based wedding & engagement photographer and I'm so pleased to being sharing some of her work for the first time on SBB!  I asked Jenna for a little information about herself and why she started up a photography business so be sure to read more about her below!

A little about me… I'm a true Spokane product :)… graduate of Mead High School and Whitworth College.  I went to school to become a teacher and taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades for 6 years before my husband and I got pregnant.  Now… I'm a mom of two spunky little boys, Jonah (almost 5) and Jace (2).  They are my all time favorite subject to photograph and really what started my business.  

I can't remember a time I wasn't IN LOVE with photography, but becoming a mom is what propelled my hobby into a business.  I feel overwhelmingly blessed to be able to combine my two passions… kids and photography… and have a business.  I have the most exposure with children and families and enjoy them immensely!  BUT… I have been surprised at how much I LOVE working with couples doing engagement sessions and weddings.  I'm a sap at heart and love the details, sentiments, and personality of weddings.  

 Pretty sure I've never been to a wedding without shedding a tear… even if I only knew the couple briefly.  I come from a long line of marathon marriages… generation after generation of "till death do us part" commitment and I think because of that, marriage holds a very tender and important place in my heart.  There is nothing more special or honorable to photograph… it is OH SO fun. :) - Jenna Star

 

$2K Mitcham's Barn Wedding by Ifong Chen Photography

A gorgeous Barn wedding, on a $2,000 budget & shot by Ifong Chen Photography???  Triple awesomeness!!! 

Rhianna & Joshua's Mitcham's Barn wedding and reception is picture perfect proof that a simple wedding on a very tight budget can be just as beautiful & meaningful as any costly, time-consuming event.  Knowing the couple was on a very small budget friends and family generously came through for the couple making the day truly all about Love!

Our stylish & talented bride, Rhianna, made her own head piece, gifts for the bridal party, the wedding cake,  and centerpieces.  And, with the help of her bridesmaids, she even created the bouquets!  The food was brought in by guests and the bride's gown donated by Mary of Mossuto's Bridal.  Ifong Chen attended the wedding as a guest and brought her camera along to take a few shots as her wedding gift to the couple!  The images are breathtaking!!  This entire wedding is a wonderful example of true community & love!   

 

Finding Your Bridal Style - The Fun & Flirty Bride by Storybook Bridal

Happy Monday!  So excited for some warm weather today and for this adorable Bridal Style shoot by Storybook Bridal & Rebecca Hollis Photography.  

Misty, owner of Storybook Bridal & Cameo Events, coordinated this five-part 'Bridal Style' series using gowns from her Spring 2012 collection.  The new lines encompass a wide variety of styles. Today's bride is "The Fun & Flirty Bride".  Misty, is an expert at helping brides determine their individual Bridal Styles and can help you define yours!

May Day Spring Flower Posies - DIY Favors

I've been staring out at these gorgeous Spring blooms coming up all over my yard for days now trying to think of the best way to bring them in and enjoy them before they vanish.  Yesterday being May Day brought back memories of a sweet tradition; making May Day Posies!  Neighbors would share little cones of flowers to celebrate the coming of Spring.  So Lily & I gathered up some blooms and shaped tiny cones from paper doilies to decorate our Spring table.  Keep reading for the step-by-step:

Step One: Gather up your favorite Springtime flowers.

Step Two: Arrange tiny bouquets of blooms and bundle together (not to tightly!) with a rubber band or floral tape if you have it.  Place in a plastic floral tube filled with water or a short vase.

Step Three: Cut paper doilies in half and fold into cones securing with double sided tape.

Step Four: Prep bouquets to insert into cones - I didn't have plastic floral water tubes on hand so I gave the stems a quick trim, wrapped them in strips of damp paper towel and then in waxed paper to keep them from soaking the cones.  Drop each gently down into a paper cone.  This method will work for only a very short time so if you're planning a long event, I'd suggest purchasing plastic floral water tubes from your local craft supply store.  If using plastic floral water tubes, simply wrap in a bit of waxed paper or white tissue paper and slip down into cones.

Voila! 

Here's the recipe for the flowers and foliage we used: Red, Yellow & Pink Tulips, Grape Hyacinth, Strawberry Leaves, Pansies & Sweet Woodruff.

Happy May Day!  I love May!  It's my birthday month and my wedding anniversary month and just a great month all around.  Everything greening up and flowers blooming everywhere and so, so much to look forward to!

Sharing this gorgeous Bridal Fashion Shoot by Urban Rose Photo is the perfect way to celebrate the coming of May.  What began as an inspiring vision by Yisel, owner of Skin Care by Yisel, quickly transformed into a magical bridal fashion shoot brought to life by a collaboration of amazing local wedding vendors and artists.  There were just too many great photos to share here so for lots more check out Part One & Part Two on the Urban Rose Photo Blog.
